Our team are dedicated to meeting our clients’ needs at all times, and we pride ourselves on ensuring all work is completed in a professional, friendly and timely manner. Topcoat’s strength is in our ability to offer clients a choice of solutions for their particular environment. We currently have a staff of around 50, including administration, a quantity surveyor, health & safety representatives, and links to sub trades.
In 2011 Topcoat South Island was established, and this branch based in Christchurch now has a team of around 30. In 2019, we expanded our South Island operations to include a Central Otago branch, based in Cromwell.
Our specialist team is comprised of competent tradesmen and we have an ongoing commitment to training, in order to keep our staff skills in tune with new technology. In Auckland we operate from a 1000m² purpose built building, complete with warehouse and Dangerous Goods Store.

Peter Shepherd
Director
Peter enjoys putting together solutions that best suit the individual clients needs, and seeing the final finished job. He loves working with the Topcoat team.
Pete has four sons, and loves fishing, family time and travel. He has fundraised over the last five years for local emergency services, and coached junior rugby.
Mark Ambridge
Sales Director
Mark believes the single greatest asset of Topcoat is their staff, whose skill, determination and can-do attitude are a credit to the company. Mark enjoys playing golf and spending time with family. His biggest personal challenges to date has been completing the 07 Ironman in Taupo, and in Feb 2011 he completed the Coast-to-Coast Longest Day.
Vicki McLeish

Vicki loves working with figures, which her role at Topcoat demands.
She enjoys supporting her family in their motorsports and holidays away with family. She also enjoys girls weekends away – time out to recharge the batteries.
Caroline Graham
Office Administrator
Caroline joined Topcoat in April 2013, coming from the transport industry with strong administration and accounts background.
She is kept busy with her blended family, two teenage boys and two pre-teen girls. Caroline enjoys camping in the summer and spending time with family and friends.
Shanley Bloomfield

Started with Topcoat in July 2015, before this Shanley has helped out at Topcoat a few times with overflow.
When not working Shanley enjoys Golf, gardening, walking, painting, entertaining and spending time with her grown-up family.
Mervin Naidoo
Business Development Manager
Mervin joined the Topcoat Team in September 2018 as Business Development Manager. He is an experienced sales professional who is driven around hunting for new business and maintaining existing customers. In his spare time, he likes travelling, fishing and tramping.
Brent Clark
Flooring Solutions Applicator
Brent is our longest serving team member, he joined Peter Shepherd when Topcoat were predominantly residential painters. Brent has a diverse range of skills which comes from initially having worked in the painting industry, including decorative overlay systems, waterproofing and concrete repair solutions.
Brent has a great love for fishing and demands full domination over the TV remote.

Craig comes from a diverse background in the property and building sector. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Construction (Construction Management) degree. In his spare time, Craig likes to keep fit and active. He has run several half marathons. He is a golf fanatic, and enjoys time out with friends and family when he can.

Lorn Robertson
General Manager South Island
Lorn likes to relax at the weekends with his family and friends. He has two lovely daughters who keep him busy with their sports on Saturday mornings. He can often be found late afternoon in and around the kitchen with a glass of wine cooking up a storm.
Lorn enjoys a Sunday morning on the golf course, socialising and hanging out with his mates.

Patrick O’Sullivan is our Operations Foreman and has over 17 years of experience in specialist flooring and painting and is a general all-rounder. He has a love for animals and birds and in his spare time, he enjoys building model aeroplanes.

Julie Lyons started with Topcoat South Island in 2011. She has an administration background, she enjoys supporting her son in his Motocross and her daughter in her dancing. She loves catching up with family and friends for great summer holidays and enjoys coffees and shopping with the girls.

JP moved from Ireland to NZ in September 2012, having gained experience as a QS in both PQS and contractor QS roles in a number of areas such as civil, domestic, industrial and commercial. JP also enjoys playing and coaching football through the winter months and exploring local walking tracks throughout the summer months. And a good scotch when possible.
