West Wave Dive Pool - Alderman Drive Henderson

The West Wave Dive Pool in Henderson is owned by Auckland Council and is a key aquatic facility used for water polo, diving activities, and regular hire by the Auckland Dive Club. Over time, the pool’s tiled finish deteriorated, with tiles becoming loose and falling away from the concrete substrate. This created a significant safety hazard, as exposed tile edges posed a risk of injury to divers and other pool users.

To maintain the safety and longevity of the pool, Auckland Council engaged Topcoat Specialist Coatings to provide a long-term refurbishment solution after the existing tiled surface began to fail.

Topcoat removed the existing tiles, installed approximately 326 linear metres of Sika Combiflex across all control joints, and applied a Cotec NT epoxy coating system to create a seamless, durable, and waterproof finish. The completed refurbishment delivered a safe, long-lasting solution that eliminated the hazards caused by failing tiles while providing Auckland Council with a durable, low-maintenance finish designed for years of reliable performance.
