Grafton Bridge anti-carbonation application

About this Project

The original bridge was built in 1910. Part of the rectification process included bridge strengthening, repainting and anti graffiti application.

Working in partnership with Brian Perry Civil and Mapei, Topcoat Specialist Coatings was engaged to apply the Mapelastic anti-carbonation coating to an area of 16,800m². This product is applied through cement pumps to protect and strengthen the existing concrete structure. The application included work from scaffold cherry pickers, abseiling and mobile platforms, with crews working day and night shifts.
